Frequently Asked Questions
"Why do I see pictures of deformed or injured salmon in fish farms? "
Salmon with physical defects occur both in nature and in a farm environment. Salmon that look different may have a genetic defect or may have been injured. Sometimes salmon are injured on farms by jumping into netting or equipment designed to contain or feed them, or some may be injured during transport. In a wild environment, injured or genetically deformed fish will be easy prey for predators, in the safe farm environment with readily available food they are able to survive. We inspect our salmon daily and proactively remove any that appear to have a physical defect.
